Private Lessons
Private Music Lessons
A typical music lesson meets for 30 minutes once per week on the same day and time. Longer lessons, 45-minute or 60-minute, are available for more advanced students or students who want to get a jump start on their musical journey. Lessons are paid monthly in the first week of each month. We use a modern, cloud-based student portal to manage your private music lesson account. Among other things, the student portal will track your account balance and student attendance.
On the first day of each month the student portal system will generate and e-mail an invoice for the total number of scheduled lessons for the upcoming month plus or minus previous month’s account balance. If a lesson is missed during the month a make-up credit is issued and the teacher will schedule the make-up lesson. As each lesson is taken the teacher will mark the attendance and the account balance will be deducted that week’s lesson fee. If no lessons have been missed during the month at the end of the month the account balance will be zero and the cycle repeats on the first of the next month.

FAQ
What age can take lessons?
If the student can sit and focus 30 minutes then the student is old enough! That said, most students are usually at least 6 years old before starting lessons. We have taught students as young as 4 years old and as old as 70+ years of age!
How much does it cost?
Private lessons are $34 per 30 minute lesson. 45 minute and 60 minute lessons are prorated accordingly to the 30 minute rate. Lessons are paid monthly in advanced at the start of each month. Our student portal automatically calculates the monthly invoice based on scheduled lessons for upcoming month.
Do I need an instrument?
Yes. Piano students must have a piano at home for practice. A quality digital piano with “weighted keys” is acceptable instrument. Other music students will need a personal instrument for both lessons and practice. Many instruments are available for rent at local retailers. Ask us and we can help you with your instrument rental or purchase!
What are your instructor qualifications?
We take pride in having the best qualified teachers in the great Indianapolis area. Our instructors all have music degrees or are studying for a music degree. Most of our teachers hold a degree in the instrument they teach and are active performers. They are also experienced teachers who love to teach students of all ages!
What instruments do you teach?
Most major instruments including piano, voice, violin, viola, cello, guitar (acoustic and electric), ukulele, banjo, bass, saxophone, flute, clarinet, trumpet. If you don’t see an instrument please ask! If we do not have a teaching who offers lessons in that instrument we can often recommend a local private teacher.
What about recitals?
Our music school has a 175 seat theater. Our students have many opportunities for recitals and other less formal performance opportunities.
Instruments required?
No! All instruments and materials are included in monthly fee!
